Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Burwell Material Handling, people come first. Our team, our customers, and the communities we serve are the reason we exist. We're who we are today because of the people behind us. Every team member, every connection, and every customer relationship helped shape this company.

We've built our reputation by delivering smarter, safer material handling across the full lifecycle: equipment sales, rentals, service and parts, fleet telematics, and engineered automation solutions. We do it with the kind of personal attention that comes from being neither too big to care nor too small to keep up. We listen first, we move fast, and we keep our word.

Now we're growing, and we're looking for forward-thinking, motivated teammates who want to help build something meaningful. Here, your contributions count and your voice is heard.

About the Role:
We’re hiring a full-time Truck Driver in Baton Rouge, Louisiana — and you’ll be home every night. You’ll deliver rental equipment like forklifts and boom lifts to customer sites, with occasional trips to nearby branches. A valid CDL A and prior driving experience are required to ensure safe, efficient equipment handling. If you’re a reliable driver who values independence, safety, and being part of a supportive team, we’d love to connect with you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Transport, deliver, and retrieve construction and material handling equipment
  • Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections before and after pickups/deliveries
  • Load and unload equipment safely (boom lifts, forklifts, etc.) using proper chaining and strapping methods
  • Maintain accurate delivery documents and daily logs
  • Maneuver equipment through varied terrain and tight spaces when needed
  • Communicate with branch leadership and dispatch regarding delivery schedules
  • Observe safety protocols at all job sites and facilities
  • Report all incidents, damage, or delays promptly to the Branch Manager or dispatch
  • Provide basic assistance to customers with equipment questions during deliveries
  • Maintain flexibility in daily tasks to meet customer needs
  • Represent Burwell with a professional attitude and appearance
  • Minimum 2 years of recent tractor trailer driving experience
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Proven ability to safely load/unload and secure equipment
  • Familiarity with chaining, strapping, and DOT safety standards
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High School diploma or GED required

All offers are contingent on passing a pre-employment drug test and background check. Burwell Material Handling is a drug-free workplace.

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Excellent benefits starting day one – Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, Short-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and 401(k) with Company Match
  • Progressive Paid Time Off and Holidays – starting with 3 weeks PTO in your first year
  • Paid parental leave for moms and dads
  • Opportunities for growth and internal promotion
  • Annual Community Impact Day – paid volunteer time in the places we work and live

We are committed to fair, consistent treatment and providing equal growth opportunities for all team members. Burwell Material Handling is an equal opportunity employer as defined by federal, state, or local law.

If you're looking to build a meaningful career, we’re excited to support your goals and help you grow with us.
