As the largest independent laboratory in the region, we provide clinical and diagnostic testing services to physicians, hospitals, employers, and government agencies across the Gulf South. We are actively scaling operations through our new partnership with FMOL Health.

We are seeking a skilled Medical Courier to join our team based in Baton Rouge, LA. The Medical Courier will work with the operations team to pick up client samples safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. Routine daily tasks include supply deliveries, sample pickups, maintaining specimen integrity, logging samples, and communicating delays. Orion Laboratories will provide courier cars, gas, and additional supplies needed to complete deliveries.

What

You Will Own
  • Complete assigned courier routes accurately and on schedule, including specimen pick-ups and supply deliveries.
  • Safely transport patient specimens while maintaining required handling, temperature, and specimen-integrity standards.
  • Verify and document specimen pick-ups and deliveries according to established procedures.
  • Check for supply orders at the beginning of each shift and deliver materials to designated client locations.
  • Communicate delays, route issues, specimen concerns, or client needs promptly to the appropriate team member.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with physician offices, facilities, laboratory staff, and other clients.
  • Follow all traffic laws and company safe-driving requirements while operating an Orion-provided vehicle.
  • Inspect the assigned courier vehicle for damage, tire issues, or other concerns and promptly report problems to management.
  • Keep the courier vehicle and work areas clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
  • Follow applicable CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and Orion safety and compliance requirements.
What You Bring

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to consistently complete an assigned route.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while staying in communication with the operations team.
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport clinical specimens and supplies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to route or operational changes as needed.
Preferred
  • Previous medical courier, delivery, healthcare, laboratory, or logistics experience.
  • Experience handling clinical specimens or working in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, specimen-handling requirements, or healthcare compliance standards.
Pay Rate:

$15.75 per hour, non-exempt and eligible for overtime beyond forty hours in a workweek. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, paid time off (PTO), a 401(k) with a 5% employer match, and other standard Orion Laboratories employee benefits.

Summary

Orion Laboratories is seeking a full-time Medical Courier in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role is responsible for the safe, timely pick-up and delivery of specimens and supplies while maintaining specimen integrity and providing excellent client service. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with rotating weekends.
