Purpose

The Order Selector is responsible for performing an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse, operating powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries to and from storage areas, inspecting trailers, communicating across multiple departments, and selecting customer orders.

Principal Accountabilities

List the activities you perform on a regular basis. Identify the major end result your position is expected to achieve for each of these activities.

Selects customer orders using an RF scanner gun and forklift, and stages for loading on trucks.

Transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.

Loads and unloads goods from vehicles such as trucks and trailers.

Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards.

Prioritizes trailer loading/unloading with the Receiving Coordinator.

Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing requests, and recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer/scanner. May also assist in counting physical inventory.

Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and work stations neat.

Organizes the warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

Wears the proper safety equipment.

Stacks goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions.

Checks that loads are secure.

Stacks empty pallets.

Performs daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery.

Other duties as assigned.

Complies with all policies and procedures for Quality Assurance/Food Safety to ensure high‑quality food‑safe products.

Serves as backup to the Material Handler within the Production Department.

Knowledge / Experience / Competencies

Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have 1–2 years of warehouse experience, prior trailer loading and unloading experience, and order selecting.
Follows instructions for operating equipment and keeping records.
Executes assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Has prior experience using an RF scanner gun.
Has a clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license, which may be required.
Is forklift certified per OSHA standards.
Is good with numbers and adding/subtracting quantities.
Is a self‑starter and disciplined.

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
Regularly lifts and/or moves objects weighing 10–50 lbs; occasionally lifts and/or moves objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Understands basic arithmetic.
