Schedule:

Regular, full-time administrative position. Typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with evening and weekend hours as needed. Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees. Flexible/hybrid work schedules may be reviewed and changed based on College needs.

Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, this full-time position is responsible for:

  • Leading the activities of the Dental Hygiene Department
  • Representing the College with employers and community partners
  • Developing and delivering courses and programs that meet workforce needs

Please note that this position does not serve as the supervising dentist for the on-campus clinic. This position may teach up to 35% of their workload, in alignment with departmental needs and professional expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Dental Hygiene Department, including administration, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Develop, deliver, and assess programs and courses to meet community and workforce needs.
  • Oversee curriculum development, faculty support, and program outcomes in collaboration with the curriculum committee.
  • Monitor course and program outcomes against quality measures and student and employer expectations; implement continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Coordinate accreditation and state approvals (CODA, state boards) and prepare required self-studies and reports; plan and facilitate site visits.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts for dental hygiene students; develop policies to support student success and enrollment growth.
  • Manage the department’s resources, including budget and staffing; recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Oversee the on-campus patient dental clinic operations, including front desk efficiency, clinic equipment maintenance, and patient/stu dent safety and quality of care.
  • Engage with community partners and external committees to advance dental hygiene education and opportunities.
  • Provide instruction in dental hygiene courses as needed, including didactic, lab, or simulation-based content; supervise clinical instruction in the on-campus clinic and coordinate with licensed dentists as required.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Accredited Dental Hygienist or licensed dentist with educational experience. Two (2) years of clinical experience as a dental hygienist is preferred but not required.
  • Registered Dental Hygienist and Dental Hygiene Licensure preferred.
Salary

Proposed Salary:
According to Kellogg Community College pay administrative compensation guidelines, the 2025–2026 annual salary range for a Director 1 position is $74,683 to $93,355 to start.
