Position Responsibilities:
- Work with a variety of Adult students (15-20 at a time) at the Calhoun County Jail teaching skills necessary for the High School Equivalency test.
- Provide individual, small group, and whole group instruction with adult students to acquire concepts for the High School Equivalency test.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and provides a learning climate for the students.
- Evaluate student progress based observation, data collection,and current best practices.
- Ensure physical upkeep of the classroom and equipment is maintained.
- Maintain accurate/confidential records.
- Work flexible hours up to 4 days a week depending on student needs; teacher will set their schedule in conjunction with Jail staff. Evening hours (5:00 8:00 p.m.) are preferred for Adult Education classes at the Calhoun County Jail; however, scheduling remains flexible based on applicant availability.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an appropriate secondary-level endorsement
- Meet Adult Education teaching requirements
- Basic computer skills are required.

Contract: 175 Days
SCHOOL SAFETY CLEARANCE: The successful candidate will be subject to a fingerprint and background check as a condition of employment. All fees required for this check (estimated $73.00) will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
