Position Responsibilities:

• Work with a variety of Adult students (15-20 at a time) at the Calhoun County Jail teaching skills necessary for the High School Equivalency test.
• Provide individual, small group, and whole group instruction with adult students to acquire concepts for the High School Equivalency test.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and provides a learning climate for the students.
• Evaluate student progress based observation, data collection,and current best practices.
• Ensure physical upkeep of the classroom and equipment is maintained.
• Maintain accurate/confidential records.
• Work flexible hours up to 4 days a week depending on student needs; teacher will set their schedule in conjunction with Jail staff. Evening hours (5:00 8:00 p.m.) are preferred for Adult Education classes at the Calhoun County Jail; however, scheduling remains flexible based on applicant availability.

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an appropriate secondary-level endorsement
• Meet Adult Education teaching requirements

• Basic computer skills are required.

Salary: $30.00/hr

Contract: 175 Days
