Legacy Scholars Success Coach – Kellogg Community College

Overview

This grant-funded, full-time position reports to the Director of Admissions. The Legacy Scholars (LS) Success Coach will work with Legacy Scholars-eligible students as the primary contact from enrollment to graduation, assisting with navigating the enrollment process, providing encouragement, support, and monitoring through to graduation. This is a temporary grant-funded position through June 2027, with the possibility of extension at the conclusion of the grant-funded project.

The position is full-time, with a schedule typically from 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Friday, with evening and weekend hours as needed. Regular on-campus presence is expected; flexible/hybrid arrangements are subject to review and college needs.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student programming that provides individual opportunities to interact and create meaningful points of contact across campus and in the local community.
  • Create and facilitate special programming to build community and connections with Legacy Scholar students.
  • Use Starfish Student Success Tracking System to monitor student status and implement interventions to increase retention and graduation rates of Legacy Scholars.
  • Provide individual opportunities to interact and create a point of contact for this student population.
Position Details

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (unofficial transcripts showing degree and date of conferral at time of application).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, such as advising, mentoring, coaching, or tutoring.
  • Knowledge of K-12 and/or higher education systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Ability to independently travel within the community and to partner schools.
  • Ability to positively and professionally engage with community stakeholders on and off campus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other similar software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Working knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Knowledge of Kellogg Community College institutional processes, programs, and practices.
  • Experience with student recruitment strategies and/or retention programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Battle Creek Public Schools and Lakeview school district.
Salary

According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the  annual salary range for a Professional 1 position is $50,776 to $59,734 to start.
