Position: Environmental Protection Specialist with Security Clearance
Duties
* Serves as the main point of contact for overseas hazardous waste disposal, providing guidance and expertise to ensure environmental compliance.
* Ensures all hazardous materials and waste are managed, transported, and disposed of according to U.S., Host-Nation, International, and local environmental laws.
* Tracks and synchronizes efforts among Lead Environmental Components (LEC), Geographic Combatant Commands (GCC), and other stakeholders to ensure hazardous material and waste management compliance.
* Creates and delivers training, presentations, and reports on environmental policies, program updates, and compliance requirements for a wide range of stakeholders.
* Reviews environmental policies and regulations, conducts facility inspections, and provides recommendations to leadership on best practices and compliance issues.
* Conducts or reviews inspections of hazardous waste disposal facilities and provide input on key environmental policy documents. Requirements Conditions of employment

Qualifications To qualify for an Environmental Protection Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized

Experience:

One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
* Managing environmental programs or projects.
* Identifying hazardous waste management, transportation, or disposal compliance issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Coordinating environmental initiatives among multiple stakeholders, departments, or external organizations.
* Communicating technical environmental information clearly to diverse audiences, resolving compliance disputes, or representing an organization in professional meetings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands:
Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching or similar activity; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as small equipment or boxes. Frequent travel may be involved (using various modes of transportation including military). Physical exertion may be required for heavy lifting: carrying suitcases, laptop and/or computer projector for briefings, etc.

Individual stress conditions may be caused by weather problems (extreme heat and sandstorms). The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity. Work Environment:
Work associated with this position ranges from secure office requiring observance of special safety and security precautions and/or special protective clothing. Work may involve exposure to hazards, unpleasantness, and discomfort such as physical stressors and adverse weather conditions. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
