Fabrication Operator

Role Summary

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Fabrication Operator is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Fabricators are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, a Fabricator’s main responsibility is cutting, threading, grooving, testing, and bundling pipe and fittings to meet customer’s specifications.

• Pipe threading, cutting, and grooving
• Product quality testing through pressure and/or chemical testing
• Painting product
• Sandblasting if required by location
• Material layout by customer measurements/specifications
• Read job prints
• Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
• Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
• Learn how to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
• Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of warehouse
• Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Warehouse Manager
• Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
• Safely operate additional warehouse equipment
• Attend meetings and training sessions
• Other fabrication tasks as assigned

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills for standard office equipment, barcode scanner, printer, and warehouse equipment; basic math and reasoning skills
• Excellent work ethic, good verbal and communication skills; ability to work independently
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Fabrication Manager
• Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
• Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs; stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during entire work shift

• Certification in the operation of a forklift truck (not necessary but considered a plus)
