Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Michigan with night shift, frequent admissions, and observation overflow duties.

• Work in a hospital Medical Surgical unit, including a 10-bed ER overflow Observation unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:6 at night and 1:5 during days, with occasional flex up to 1:8 with LPN support
• Frequent patient admissions and discharges with a focus on constant reassessment for discharge readiness
• Floating to other Med/Surg units required, typically once per week as needed
• Every other weekend required
• Primary duties include rapid assessment, admissions, and discharge planning for med/surg and observation patients
• Support staff includes LPNs and Techs, especially in higher patient ratio situations
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent patient turnover

• Active MI RN license required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Travel nursing experience highly preferred; may consider strong permanent experience
• Must be willing to work collaboratively with RNs, LPNs, Techs and other staff
