Description

Bronson Internal Medicine Battle Creek has a new opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their well‑established Internal Medicine practice, located in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Position Highlights
  • Candidate will work in the outpatient setting Monday-Friday 8a-5p
  • No Weekends, No call
  • Candidate will work alongside 3 physicians and 3 APP’s
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in primary care and internal medicine
  • This will be a hospital‑employed position within the Bronson Medical Group
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive and problem‑focused histories and physical examinations, interpret laboratory and radiologic tests, and correlate subjective and objective patient data to formulate diagnoses. Under the direction of the physician, review patient findings and develop a treatment plan within the scope of practice. Perform these activities in outpatient and inpatient settings. Demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Clinical Duties
  • Maintain current unrestricted or pending licensure and DEA license to prescribe medications.
  • Obtain and maintain current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s).
  • Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
Administrative and Technical Skills
  • Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job.
  • Regularly communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing using SBAR technique.
  • Communicate with internal customers such as physicians, multidisciplinary team, finance, management, and external customers such as patients, third‑party payers, community agencies on a daily basis.
Physical Demands
  • Perform work that produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
  • Typical physical demands include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
Concurrent Clinical Management
  • Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate implementation of patients’ progress toward outcomes, including discharge or transfer of care.
  • Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assertive coordination among the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify common patient complications and utilize appropriate preventative measures.
  • Assist in the development and integration of quality measures and evidence into clinical practice.
Utilization Review
  • Perform an initial comprehensive assessment of the patient to determine if the patient requires a higher intensity of service and requires transfer to a hospital setting.
  • Apply knowledge of regulatory and third‑party payor criteria.
  • Facilitate timely discharges/transfers to the appropriate level of care.
Clinical Management
  • Evaluate and appropriately manage patients.
  • Evaluate lab, EKG, imaging studies.
  • Complete appropriate documentation necessary to support billing, medical care, orders, and progress notes.
  • Be available for any nursing questions or to evaluate status changes for patients.
