Position OverviewAscend Academy is seeking a reliable and vigilant School Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This part-time role is ideal for individuals who are attentive, professional, and committed to school safety.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor school premises to ensure the safety and security of students and staff
- Control access to the building, including visitor check-in and verification
- Patrol school grounds and respond to any security concerns or incidents
- Support staff during arrival, dismissal, and transitions throughout the day
- Assist in emergency situations following school safety protocols
- Document incidents and maintain accurate security reports
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a school or youth-focused environment
