Responsibilities- Adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Preparation for valving: accurately prepare cylinder necks and fittings to ensure proper seals for new or reconditioned valves, following safety and quality protocols.
- Surface preparation and paint removal: complete and effective removal of old paint, rust, and surface contaminants using blasting, chemical stripping, or approved mechanical methods.
- Repainting and finishing: apply new paint coats, ensuring proper thickness, adhesion, and uniformity, and follow Airgas color coding specifications.
- Visually examine all Vertical Gas Liquid (VGL) cylinders pre‑ and post‑repair for damage or leaks.
- Operate cylinder buffing equipment as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on VGLs by testing component functionality.
- Perform vacuum functionality tests and repair valves, pressure builders, and gauges.
- Document all maintenance performed each shift using the appropriate tracking log.
- Stage, band, and ship all VGLs that require a new vacuum.
- Maintain inventory of supplies needed to assure continuous production with VGLs.
- Identify and condemn cylinders that do not meet Airgas standards and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist with production and distribution as needs arise or as instructed by the manager.
- Secure all equipment, tools, and supplies at the end of each work day.
- Handle hazardous materials daily in a safe, approved manner following Airgas standard operating procedures.
- Arrange for storage and disposal of hazardous waste (paint and paint dust).
- Act with care, adapt to the environment, and engage in the Be, Act, Engage framework of employee performance.
- Perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but is not specifically described.

- High School diploma or GED (preferred).
- Cylinder maintenance in industrial production settings (preferred).
- Experience using sandblasting equipment, hand tools, and additional industrial equipment in a similar environment.
- Experience with inventory counting and tracking.
- Ability to operate a forklift and maintain forklift certifications; additional hand truck equipment may be used.
- No certifications required, but must pass training based on 100% testing.
