Job PurposeOperate extrusion / processing equipment and perform all associated processing activities while maintaining product quality.
Essential Duties- Set up, calibrate, operate, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting of extrusion and auxiliary equipment; adjust equipment variables to meet equipment and product requirements.
- Calculate rates and performance percentages for product runs.
- Ensure required changeovers are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist clients through research and development/test work.
- Safely operate forklift and scissor lift; obtain Alphia Foods certification.
- Maintain and sustain FIFO program.
- Perform QA duties as necessary: report quality issues to Extruder Lead or Supervisor, collect samples, perform analysis with provided equipment, monitor HACCP compliance.
- Ensure products meet client specifications and follow microbial control and regulatory/temperature requirements such as ACS and burnout.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and completely.
- Proficiency in Alphia Foods Business Systems (e.g., JDE, IQS, Sage, etc.) as it applies to the position.
- Anticipate technical problems, proactively troubleshoot, make technical adjustments, or notify maintenance.
- Perform operator-level preventive maintenance.
- Work with Maintenance and Supervisor to identify potential line improvements.
- Work only in job-specific designated area.
- Participate in full facility and equipment clean-up as directed.
- Accountable for personal safety, behavior and performance.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate work status to the next shift for smooth transition.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and leave it for the following shift.
- Ensure CCP requirements are met; if a deviation occurs, notify Supervisor and Quality departments.
- Safely operate forklift (must obtain Alphia Foods certification).
- Other duties as assigned or directed.
- High school diploma and/or GED.
- Previous extrusion experience preferred.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, percentages).
- Basic computer skills.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal, written, and radio communication skills.
- Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
- Ability to obtain Alphia Foods Lock Out / Tag Out certification.
- Ability to multi-task.

Regularly required to talk or hear, walk, and move from place to place. Occasionally required to sit, use foot/feet to operate machine, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or reach above shoulders. Frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or touch. Must exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
Specific vision required includes close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Frequently exposed to allergens and airborne particles. Temperature range 0-115 degrees depending on season and workstation; may operate near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather. Noise level loud while equipment running. Personal Protective Equipment including boots, gloves, safety glasses, face shields, ear plugs, bump caps required.
