Assignment
Position will follow the teacher calendar for assigned days; with an additional 20 days to be scheduled at the start/end of the school year. Position is considered a 10 month position for vacation purposes in the Coordinator agreement.

Work hours during school days are 10am to 6pm; non student days 8am to 3pm; or as mutually agreed upon with Principal.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Middle School Principal, with support from the Athletics/Activities Director, the Middle School Activities Coordinator is responsible for managing, planning and supervising extra‑curricular programs for grades 5-8.
Duties include organizing and supervising extra‑curricular activities practices, contests, and tournaments; establishing the activities calendar; hiring, directing, supervising and overseeing all middle level coaches and activity coordinators (e.g. advisors); preparing, recommending and monitoring the middle level activities budget(s); providing direction and support for fundraising opportunities and addressing public relations aspects of the middle level activities program. In addition the position will be responsible for implementing processes related to technology and coordination and direct oversight of concession operations at FMS.
QUALIFICATIONS
and EXCLUSIONS
- Two year degree (or equivalent) is required with a four year degree preferred.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills are required.
- Prior experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Prior experience organizing multiple events and activities at the same time is required.
Note:
Due to the time of the day that the work takes place, this position cannot include extracurricular coaching or advising duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the coordination, supervision, and evaluation of middle school activities.Recruits, interviews, and trains new coaches and advisors for middle school activities.Assists in conducting annual performance reviews for all head coaches and lead advisors.Mentors and oversees staff development activities of coaches and advisors at the middle level.Assists the Activities Director in gathering annual input from participants and parents (e.g. surveys).Organizes and supervises all activities, practices and tournaments for activities in grades 5–8.Plans for, supervises, and coordinates scheduled events.Makes arrangements for facilities, transportation needs and maintenance needs for events/activities through maintaining facility usage on a master schedule in cooperation with Community Education.Coordinates and hires event officials and event workers.Mediates, documents and/or intervenes in coach/advisor, parent and student concerns and/or needs.Coordinates events and activities ensuring MN State High School League rules, policies and guidelines are followed as applicable.Attends and participates in a variety of community meetings, regional and state conferences, meetings and/or committees to promote the district's activities program and keep informed of developments and trends impacting activities programs and plans.Prepares, submits, recommends and defends the proposed middle level activities budget.Monitors and authorizes purchases for equipment, supplies, official fees and purchases requested of coaches and advisors.Evaluates programs and collaborates and works with administration in addressing fiscal matters involving the addition, deletion and/or elimination of activity programs.Purchases equipment and supplies.Ensures accurate and timely payment, following the prescribed voucher process, of game officials and support staff for all events.Recommends capital improvement projects.Provides student supervisory support to the middle school during passing periods and lunch as assigned. Builds rapport with students and keeps students safe.Assists the Activity Director who plans, prepares, and oversees the annual "All Sports Banquet".Is responsible for providing ongoing review and communication to middle level coaches/advisors in regard to fundraising policies. This includes review and approval of fundraising activities.Will assist in the annual review, update and publication of a FMS Coaches and Advisors manual. The manual is distributed and reviewed annually with all coaches and advisors assigned for the upcoming school year.Performs other duties as assigned.APPLICATION PROCEDURES
