Reports to: Early Learning Principal
Schedule: Full Time, 10 months or 12 months (determine based on program need)
Compensation: $48,184-$59,080 (dependent upon work experience, etc.
SECTION II: JOB GOAL / SUMMARYThe Early Childhood Specialist supports Brainerd Public Schools' early childhood programs by strengthening family engagement, coordinating outreach and communication, supporting developmental screening and enrollment efforts, assisting with community partnerships and family events, and providing operational support for program implementation. This position serves as a key connection point between families, community partners, and district early childhood services to help ensure children and families have access to welcoming, high‑quality early learning opportunities and support.
SECTIONIII: QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services, Communications, Social Work, Business/Office Administration, or related field preferred
- Experience working with young children, families, schools, community organizations, or early childhood programs preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple timelines and responsibilities
- Experience with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, social media platforms, Canva or similar tools, and basic office systems preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications and records
- Ability to build positive relationships with families, staff, and community partners
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between district buildings and community locations as needed preferred
Family Engagement & Family Support
- Serve as a welcoming point of contact for families seeking information about early childhood programs and services
- Support families in understanding available early childhood opportunities including preschool, ECFE, early childhood screening, child care, school readiness, and related district services
- Help connect families with school and community resources that support child development, school readiness, and family well‑being
- Assist with family communication, follow‑up, and navigation of next steps related to registration, screening, enrollment, or services
Outreach, Marketing & Communication
- Develop and coordinate outreach activities that promote early childhood programs, enrollment opportunities, developmental screenings, and family events
- Create, schedule, and maintain public‑facing communication including Parent Square messaging, social media content, flyers, newsletters, website updates, and promotional materials in alignment with district expectations
- Support enrollment and recruitment campaigns for early childhood programming
- Ensure communication is family‑friendly, accurate, welcoming, and aligned with district branding and messaging
Early Childhood Screening & Enrollment Support
- Coordinate and support planning, scheduling, and implementation of early childhood developmental screening clinics
- Assist with screening registration, reminders, family communication, materials, room setup, flow, and follow‑up documentation
- Help ensure screening records and processes are organized, timely, and aligned with district and state requirements
- Support outreach efforts to increase screening participation and timely completion
- Assist with preschool and early childhood registration support as assigned
Events & Community Partnerships
- Coordinate and support family events, open houses, registration events, outreach activities, and community engagement opportunities
