This position serves as the Resident Engineer to oversee and provide direction for the 3A Baxter Construction Office.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as the Resident Engineer (Engineer of Record) for the 3A Baxter Construction Office. You will administer construction projects, with the assistance of Project Engineers, Project Supervisors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions so that the construction projects will comply with any and all terms of the contract.
- Coordinating work assignments of the Construction staff during non-construction season with multiple program delivery functional areas to provide support for some final design activities. Coordinating construction reviews of all design projects.
- Directing construction scheduling and staffing so that projects are staffed with qualified people who ensure the work is in accordance with contract requirements in the Baxter Construction Office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
- Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level (or equivalent) that demonstrates knowledge and skill in the design, construction and maintenance of highways, buildings and bridges.
- Valid Class D Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering contracts for large bridge and highway construction projects.
- Knowledge of MnDOT standards and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation.
- Extensive knowledge of process design and improvement methods and tools.
- Thorough management skills with emphasis on scheduling, organization, delegation, goal setting, budgeting and the ability to respond rapidly to short notice scheduling changes.
- Negotiating and consensus building skills.
