RequirementsThe High Voltage (HV) Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering high voltage scope on utility‑scale solar EPC projects, including substations, switchyards, and interconnection facilities. The HV Project Manager works closely with field leadership, engineering, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution from pre‑construction through commissioning and turnover.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership and direction to Project Engineers and Field Engineers and works in close coordination with Superintendents, General Foremen, and subcontractors. This role is accountable for aligning field execution with project objectives and maintaining accountability across teams.
What You’ll Do- Lead and manage all high‑voltage (HV) project activities, including substations, switchyards, utility interconnections, commissioning, and energization efforts.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and support daily/weekly planning to ensure safe and efficient field execution.
- Oversee HV safety compliance by enforcing OSHA, client, and site‑specific safety requirements while supporting high‑risk activities, incident reviews, and corrective actions.
- Manage project budgets, labor productivity, subcontractors, equipment, and material resources while identifying risks and driving cost‑control strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utilities, and stakeholders, coordinating outages, technical issues, QA/QC processes, inspections, testing, and final project turnover documentation.
- Strong knowledge of high‑voltage systems, substations, utility interconnections, protection & controls, relay systems, and commissioning processes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one‑line diagrams, with a strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations.
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills with experience managing cross‑functional teams, project budgets, and schedules in fast‑paced construction environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, with 5+ years of experience managing HV, substation, utility‑scale solar, or transmission construction projects.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%), maintain a valid driver’s license, and work on active job sites, including walking uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
