RequirementsThe Estimating Manager is responsible for leading estimating efforts and overseeing the preparation of accurate, competitive project estimates for utility‑scale renewable energy construction projects, including Solar, Substations, and BESS. The role manages the estimating team and serves as the Bid Captain for key opportunities, coordinating the bid process from initial request through proposal submission.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Estimating Manager oversees the team, including Estimator I, Estimator II, and Senior Estimator roles, providing guidance, review, and mentorship to ensure estimates meet company standards for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
What You’ll Do- Lead the preparation and review of accurate cost estimates and proposals for utility‑scale solar, substation, BESS, and energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage the bid process from RFP review through submission, coordinating cross‑functional teams to deliver complete, compliant, and competitive proposals on schedule.
- Oversee estimating quality and consistency by validating pricing, labor assumptions, construction methods, general conditions, and supporting documentation.
- Evaluate project risks, opportunities, constructability, and pricing strategies while collaborating with engineering, procurement, operations, and project management teams.
- 7+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in renewable energy, electrical construction, or heavy civil infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading complex bid efforts and preparing estimates for utility‑scale solar, BESS, substation, or similar energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, labor productivity, project cost drivers, and a willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement by mentoring the estimating team, refining estimating processes and tools, maintaining cost databases, and incorporating lessons learned into future bids.
