Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance
Pay or shift range: $75,000 USD to $100,000 USD. This is an estimated range. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
DescriptionThe Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance employees across multiple shifts, establishes work priorities, supports equipment reliability initiatives, and works closely with production, engineering, quality, and safety teams to minimize downtime and improve operational performance. The position is responsible for employee supervision, scheduling, training, performance management, and payroll administration while also performing troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
The Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for developing the next generation of maintenance talent through coaching, training, cross‑training, and succession planning initiatives. This position plays a critical role in preserving technical knowledge, strengthening bench strength, and ensuring long‑term maintenance team sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership, Management & Accountabilities- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance team members across multiple shifts.
- Assign daily work activities and establish maintenance priorities.
- Coordinate and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Lead with a safety‑first mindset while monitoring work quality, productivity, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Address attendance, behavioral, and performance concerns in accordance with company policies.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training maintenance personnel.
- Maintain training records and ensure team members possess required certifications and qualifications.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team‑oriented work environment.
- Develop and maintain cross‑training plans to ensure adequate maintenance coverage across all shifts and critical equipment areas.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for recurring equipment issues.
- Provide hands‑on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance support for manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Support thermoforming, extrusion, rotational molding, automation, and auxiliary equipment.
- Lead and participate in equipment repairs, installations, upgrades, and improvement projects.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to minimize production downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
- Communicate maintenance priorities and project status to production leadership and management.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Safety teams on equipment improvements and capital projects.
- Assist with maintenance planning, spare parts management, and inventory control.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Participate in safety investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Support lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Plastics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead maintenance experience preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and production systems.
