The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and designated health‑related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional well‑being. The role includes training to pass medications as this is part of their regular duties.
Caregiver schedule includes:
- 32 hours per two weeks
- Night shift
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation
This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health‑related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents’ physical and emotional well‑being.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with personal cares, including but not limited to: bathing/showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing, assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses, hair care, feeding, toileting, escorts, 1–2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift.
- Provide health‑related services as directed: assist with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes blood glucose monitoring).
- Administer medication or assist with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Perform specified home services: perform laundry service per schedule, follow cleaning schedule for the shift worked, deliver meal trays, assist with meal service in dining room.
- Assist with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
- Observe residents and report status to appropriate staff.
- Notify appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as changes in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, changes in weight.
- Serve as a mandated reporter and report any concerns regarding potential mistreatment.
- Offer pertinent observations and input.
- Respond appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
- Less than 1 year experience
- Ability to use technology, including computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines
- If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry; site must manage restrictions that prevent passing medications or operating a mechanical lift independently.
- 1–3 years experience
