Position: (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration

Position Summary

We are looking for a Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician to support and oversee repair of Walmart facility’s Refrigeration HVAC equipment. The role uses commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills, hand and power tools to complete jobs in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair Walmart facility’s Refrigeration HVAC equipment and assets using commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills and hand, digital, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Utilize the work order management system to receive and document repair work orders supporting stores and associates.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Inspect, operate, and test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Complete all required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations by following Walmart’s Refrigeration HVAC safety policy and environmental guidelines.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds, move up and down ladders, and work comfortably at heights frequently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years’ experience in commercial Refrigeration HVAC maintenance.
  • Large‑scale rack refrigeration experience.
  • Type I or Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.
  • 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and at least 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls (option
    1). 4 years’ experience for those without the certification (option
    2).
  • Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Able to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • Completion of a 2‑year vocational or technical HVAC/R program.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software.
  • Mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
  • No serious traffic violations as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
  • Prior experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Compensation

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 – $58.00. The actual hourly rate meets or exceeds the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation may include premiums ranging from $0.35/hr to $3.00/hr in specific circumstances, based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
