About the Role
The Account Manager is a key leader on the PFRS Financial Leadership Team and has direct responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function at GBIs Bay City, MI facility, performing hands-on accounting work while also overseeing the site's overall accounting activities. This role owns the month-end close, cost and inventory accounting, and financial reporting for the location, and partners closely with operations and supply chain teams to support data driven decision making.
The Account Manager directly manages one accounting team member and serves as the primary accounting resource for the facility.
Compensation: $90,000 base salary + up to 15% performance bonus
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & Financial Close
- Perform and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close, and financial reporting for the site
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Perform cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, and product costing
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounting, including valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility and support business performance
- Maintain fixed asset accounting, including depreciation, lease accounting, and capital project tracking
- Review cash activity and support cash forecasting process
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, U.S. GAAP, and company accounting policies
- Ensure accurate sales and use tax processing and compliance
- Support internal and external audit activities, providing documentation and analysis as requested
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the site's accounting team member, fostering a high-performance environment
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts for the site
- Assist with ERP system enhancements, implementations, and continuous process improvement initiatives
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance leadership to improve financial reporting, internal controls, and business processes
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Bachelors degree in accounting
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar platforms preferred)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
