* JOB SUMMARY:

** The Student Success Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing student success initiatives in various programs aimed at fostering student achievement. This role involves coordinating initiatives in collaboration with many offices on campus to enhance student retention, create a supportive, student-centered environment, and support strategic initiatives related to becoming a fully student-ready university. . The Student Success Coordinator will serve as a liaison among students, faculty, and student support services to ensure alignment with Saginaw Valley State University’s six dimensions of student success—Academic Progress/Graduation;
Engagement and Belonging;
Career Preparation;
Student Satisfaction/Wellbeing;
Academic Optimism;
Self-Efficacy;
Personal Goal Attainment; and Cross-Cultural Competency—while addressing students’ academic needs and supporting the university’s student-ready initiatives.
* The position is currently grant-funded through 2/29/2028.  This grant is
* funded by MiLEAP GoBig grant*.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

*** Work closely with the executive director, student success programs, and academic leadership to ensure alignment of student support services to achieve SVSU's enrollment goals.
* Engage in targeted student success initiatives that strengthen retention, graduation, and engagement, and develop initiatives that promote belonging, academic optimism, and self-efficacy. These initiatives include but are not limited to: TRIO, Rural Pathways, College Transitions 100, GEAR UP, and KCP-4S.
* Collaborate with campus partners to ensure seamless student support services, serve as a liaison between students, faculty, families, and communicate regularly about available resources and programs.
* Meet with students regularly—both in person and virtually—to assess academic progress, provide course-selection guidance, and address challenges. Monitor their academic performance, retention, and engagement in activities. (advising)
* Manage the early alert system to identify at-risk students, provide timely interventions, and coordinate follow-up actions with faculty, staff, and student support services.
* Collect, maintain, and analyze student success data and provide recommendations to improve programs and services. These systems include but are not limited to SCRIBE, BLUMEN, Workday, and Colleague- platform (technology versed)
* Maintain program records and web content, manage online forms and appointments, track inquiries in an electronic system, communicate with students, and handle confidential information in accordance with policies. Knowledge of regulations; ability to handle confidential information and clearly communicate related policies as needed.
* Participate in the development and implementation of multi-faceted, outreach-related events and activities.
* Assist in executing programming that allows for the implementation of SVSU’s six dimensions of student success.
* Recommend innovative strategies that support student retention and persistence.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
** General supervision is received from the Executive Director of Student Success.
** SUPERVISION EXERCISED**:
Functional supervision is exercised over the student success initiative staff and staff in the Office of Student Success.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Bachelor's degree
* Three (3) years of experience in higher education, student success program, or a related field, such as counseling, social work, education, administration, or a related field.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent phone etiquette and customer service abilities.
* Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
* Demonstrates strong professional integrity, critical thinking, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving skills.
