GSRP Program Manager

This position serves as the Program Manager for the GSRP Preschool program. This role would provide assistance in the operation and administration of the program following State of Michigan guidelines. Would be responsible to work with staff to support the implementation of best practices for establishing program content and coordinating with Building(s), District, BAISD, and State initiatives. This would include program areas such as assessments, curriculum, parent engagement, and coaching of staff in effective teaching practices.

Other duties may be assigned.

• Facilitates learning in both one-on-one or group settings utilizing MDE GSRP Standards, High Scope, Ages and Stages Screening Tool, Smart Teach Assessment Tool, and Literacy Essential Practices.
• Provide skill development and mentoring to staff progressing in their position by performing on the job modeling and assistance as well as mentoring specific skills.
• Providing ongoing quality assistance to address children’s challenging behaviors and sensory needs.
• Supports the professional development of all staff by delivering coaching assistance.
• Maintains content development expertise and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff.
• Documents and shares observations to the director for purposes of evaluations and discipline.
• Assists or leads the disciplinary process as needed
• Participates in site visits, classroom observations, and work groups to assess program needs and planning strategies for program improvement and/or development of early childhood education, disabilities, and mental health. Works collaboratively with the Director to coordinate additional support for classroom staff as needed.
• Provides guidance and support to GSRP staff with implementation of curriculum and MTSS support.
• Works cooperatively with other agencies to meet the needs of families and children served in the program.
• Organize and create a parent advisory committee(s). Plan, support and guide parent engagement activities.
• Act on information from programs/staff/families to facilitate a pathway for communication to an appropriate community resource or agency.
• Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgement, common sense, and a calm demeanor.
• Share resources from different community agencies with the families and the program.
• Assist in helping families with required paperwork for enrollment in the program.
• Attend all professional development, Preschool Partnership, and Great Start Collaborative meetings.
• Follow and support the policies and procedures of the Great Start Readiness Program Grant and Department of Human Services Licensing Guidelines.
• Work with additional building staff (i.e. principal, secretary, custodian, food services) to ensure policies and procedures are being followed building and program-wide.
• Interact with the children and families in a way which conveys respect and nurturing.
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
• Other duties may include classroom duty coverage to maintain licensing ratio requirements.

Must be willing and able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification and maintain annual certification.

Annually attend;
Blood Borne Pathogen Class and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Course.

A clear criminal record check as outlined by District, Program, and Licensing guidelines.

Complete the required annual amount of hours of training provided in and outside of the program.

• A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA) or (ZS). The transcript will document a major in child development.
• Four or more years of working with preschool children.
• Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Three years of proven leadership experience.
• A teaching/learning philosophy compatible with district vision.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of High Scope curriculum model, MTSS, and behavior supports.
• Displays strong problem solving skills as well as time management skills.

A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA) or (ZS). A valid Michigan Administration certificate K-12.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedure, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to…
