Salary Range - $89,607-$114,085
SUMMARY:The Assistant Principal collaborates with the Principal to oversee, direct, and evaluate all school operations and programs. This role drives instructional quality, supports staff development, promotes an equitable and positive learning environment, and serves as the administrative head of the school in the Principal's absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.
Instructional Leadership- Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior while promoting access to academic opportunities.
- Partner with the Principal and district leaders to implement curriculum, align teaching practices across classrooms, and integrate educational technology into daily instruction.
- Conduct teacher evaluations to foster continuous professional growth, while actively leading and participating in staff professional development.
- Maintain a safe, positive school climate, oversee local and state assessments, and actively work to close the opportunity gap.
- Analyze data with the Principal to guide school decisions and evaluate program performance.
- Oversee collaborative school teams to implement MTSS and drive academic progress toward district continuous improvement goals.
- Partner with District leaders and the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology to design, monitor, and assess curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs.
- Represent the school by participating in district-wide committees, initiatives, and professional development.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students and families through active participation in conferences, engagement events, and school activities.
- Drive two-way communication programs that keep the community informed and involved.
- Collaborate with community organizations to build mutually beneficial partnerships that support both school and community needs.
- Serve as an enthusiastic representative and advocate when interacting with students, staff, families, and community members.
- Assist the Principal and HR with recruiting, hiring, placing, evaluating, and supervising staff and volunteers to ensure clear accountability.
- Collaborate with the Principal and Finance Office to prepare zero-based budgets, procure resources, manage spending, and maintain proper documentation for audits.
- Support facility maintenance, coordinate student master scheduling, and enforce school safety protocols and rules aligned with district policies.
- Serve as the administrative representative in IEP and 504 meetings to ensure accommodations are followed, while maintaining compliant student attendance and progress records.
- Implement District policy changes.
Manages employees and students in the school. Shares responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the school and personnel.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommendations for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree, including experience or training in school administration, supervision, curriculum, or guidance; teaching experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Michigan Administrator Certificate or commitment to enroll in an approved preparation program within six (6) months and obtain the certificate within three (3) years.
