Job Description
The Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in analyzing financial performance, developing cost models, budgeting, reporting, and providing operational support. This position involves collaborating with site leadership, finance, and project teams to ensure accurate costing, reliable KPIs, and effective decision‐making tools.
Job TitleCost Accountant
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain financial and operational reports for activities, products, and projects.
- Perform scheduled performance analyses against objectives, budget, forecasts, and prior year.
- Determine cost structures, cost prices, and standard versus actual cost returns.
- Participate in budget creation and forecasting of financial indicators.
- Implement tools, processes, and escalation paths to ensure accurate, timely KPIs and metrics.
- Prepare performance reports for General Management and Finance/Administration teams.
- Support ERP design or module development.
- Serve as a costing expert to Business Managers, Controllers, and Analysts.
- Contribute to capex applications, tracking, valuations, and post mortem analysis.
- Support accounting closing processes, including forecast estimates and production operation closures.
- Manage and/or support inventory processes, including counting, valuation, and provisions.
- Proficiency in cost accounting, general ledger, cost analysis, and inventory management.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience in financial statement preparation and reconciliation.
- Budgeting expertise.
- Experience with ERP systems; involvement in ERP optimization is a plus.
- Familiarity with month‑end reporting and SAP.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR 6–10 years of equivalent financial/cost accounting experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Permanent position based out of Bay City, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr. Working to get all company benefits as well as if they would entertain relocation.
