Corporate Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting

The Corporate Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees daily accounting operations, provides financial insights, manages teams, supports strategic decisions, and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for company stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Research accounting and related literature to develop the company’s position on technical accounting matters and lead implementation of new US or global accounting standards, producing white papers for external auditors.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities, challenging scope and procedures to achieve objectives while minimizing cost and effort.
  • Provide business, financial, tax, accounting and internal control insight and advice to senior management for contract reviews, system implementations and strategic changes.
  • Oversee accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with US and local GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate financial internal controls, policies and procedures are in place and effective.
  • Manage all monthly and annual financial close and consolidation processes for HoMedics entities in accordance with GAAP and company policies, guaranteeing accurate and timely reporting.
  • Analyze and meet with group company or department leads to understand and comment on results before finalization of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Support the CFO in engaging senior management and owners on issues, strategic decisions and trends, translating financial matters into clear business impact.
  • Guide Finance, AP, AR, Tax and Treasury teams on internal controls, accounting policies, audit support and reporting deliverables.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required) CPA or Chartered Accountant certification preferred.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS in Accounting) preferred.
Other Requirements / Competencies
  • Uncompromising professional integrity and ethics.
  • 4–6 years of audit experience (Big 4, 6 or 8 public firm experience preferred).
  • 6–8 years of financial accounting and reporting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Extensive financial reporting, business combination, domestic and international consolidation, and technical accounting experience.
  • Strong audit planning, management, risk assessment and technical writing skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and strong familiarity with IFRS.
  • Appreciation for diverse business practices and cultures outside the USA.
  • Implementation experience with ERP systems and new accounting standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and consolidation packages (Hyperion/FCCS).
  • Experience with a large general ledger system (JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, Great Plains).
  • Work experience with a consumer products company with contract manufacturing in the Orient is a definite plus.
