Nurse

Position located in McLaren Bay Region. The daily work times are from 7pm to 7:30am, working nights with a scheduled bi-weekly hours of 48. The position summary involves collaborating with physicians to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees various nursing assistant roles and is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.

Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.

Facilitating/participating in patient conferences.

Identifying and providing the means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.

Assuming responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.

Teaching and/or guiding professional and ancillary personnel.

Preceptoring/mentoring new employees and students.

Functioning as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.

Performing other related duties as required and directed.

Unit Based ICU responsibilities include:

Effectively managing the critical care of the patient with hemodynamic monitoring.

Accurately and effectively administering high risk medications.

Effectively monitoring and managing the care of the patient with hemodynamic instability.

Effectively monitoring and managing the care of the patient with respiratory instability including mechanical ventilation.

Actively participating in unit quality measures.

Incorporating evidence-based practice in patient care.

Ability to promote compassion and a therapeutic environment.

Required qualifications include:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Critical Care course within one year of hire/transfer.
Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course.

Preferred qualifications include:

Six-month experience in acute care setting or equivalent.
Critical Care Registered Nurse.
