Registered Nurse – PACU

Job Summary:

Seeking a skilled Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery. The nurse will ensure patient safety, comfort, and timely recovery through vigilant monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor vital signs and patient's level of consciousness during recovery.
• Manage airway patency and respiratory function, responding promptly to airway obstructions or distress.
• Administer medications for pain, nausea, and hydration to optimize patient comfort.
• Assess surgical sites for bleeding or complications, and check dressings regularly.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately.
• Communicate effectively with surgical, anesthesia, and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years PACU experience required.
• Valid state nursing license in Michigan.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong knowledge of airway management, vital sign interpretation, and post-operative assessment.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and adverse reactions.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
