Position Summary: Assists the Nursing Directors meeting patient and employee needs within the department/unit assigned. Responsible for the day to day supervision, coordination, and participation in the day to day operations of the designated areas, following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.
Job Specific
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in ensuring efficient operations including placement of patients and staffing of the nursing units. Acts as leader for the department and liaison between staff and manager.
Acts as a resource person and provides support and direction to unit staff. Participates in delivery of patient care as needed.
Assesses, monitors, recognizes and proposes solutions and takes the appropriate corrective actions to maintain department operations.
- Collaborates with other leaders to facilitate throughput throughout the organization
- Mentors staff. Supports and facilitates participation of staff in shared governance meetings and projects.
- Assists in the quality improvement process.
- Assists in the administration of the unit including budget, supplies, regulatory compliance, policies & procedures, data collection & reporting, and the like.
- Provides input and participates in personnel issues including hiring, scheduling, orienting, disciplining, appraising, and terminating employees.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies..
- Assists in covering open shifts when needed.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Required:
- Current RN licensure in state.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in program-specific nursing.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
