Job Title: Instructional Aide - Library

Purpose:
The Library Aide ensures smooth and efficient operation of the Library and sets daily priorities based on knowledge of the overall function of the library and performs work as required or assigned.

Qualifications- Education and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
- Previous relevant experience in an educational or library setting is an asset.
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non‑refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
- Ability to assist in instructional reading and writing.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Plans, initiates and carries to completion, clerical, secretarial and administrative activities related to the operation of the school's library.
- Maintains student library use records and accounts including overdue notices and the collection of fines.
- Shelves books and other library materials.
- Maintains library materials inventory.
- Receives and processes new library materials.
- Supervises and trains student library aides.
- Supervises students in the library.
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside of classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Mental and Physical DemandsMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting. Frequent walking and reaching. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather; exposure to noise.
Tools/Equipment UsedStandard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students.
