What You’ll Do- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and collaborate with families, staff, and related service providers.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Deliver engaging instruction using a variety of evidence-based teaching strategies and technologies.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Support students in inclusive classroom settings through collaboration with general education teachers.
- Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success.
- Manage student behavior and implement behavior intervention strategies in accordance with IEPs.
- Supervise and collaborate with instructional aides and support staff as assigned.
- Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and required special education documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and campus activities.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education certification/endorsement.
- Ability to obtain ESL Certification within one year of employment.
- Certification in multiple teaching areas.
- Previous classroom experience through student teaching, internship, or professional employment.
- Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with the ARD process and IEP development and implementation.
- Ability to modify curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital documentation systems.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and classroom mobility.
- May be required to assist students with personal care and physical needs as outlined in their IEPs.
- Ability to maintain emotional control and professional judgment in a fast‑paced educational environment.
