Position: Instructor (Adjunct)- Criminal Justice
The Adjunct Instructor for transfer level courses is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom and laboratory instruction and related activities. An Adjunct Instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Division Chairperson, appropriate Dean of Instruction, the President, or the President’s designee. Adjunct instructors are employed on a part-time, per course basis for one semester, as determined by the Division Chairperson for each academic division.
These are non-tenure tract positions.
Salary: $593 per credit hour.

Responsibilities
Develops curriculum, plans and organizes assigned course in coordination with the appropriate Division Chair. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring assigned classes are held as scheduled, planning each lesson, organizing content using effective teaching strategies, facilitating learning using best practices, and holding final exams at the designated time scheduled.Follows College policies and procedures for keeping accurate course rolls, entering attendance verification, entering grades, performing class evaluations, posting office hours for student consultation, informal student advising, maintaining student files, maintaining courses in Canvas, and submitting all other reports as requested. Files an appropriate course syllabus and/or course outline with the Division Chair and the appropriate Dean of Instruction for each course taught.Promptly completes student evaluations and posts results, keeping students informed of their progress.Refers students to advisors, counselors, or other student support services, as needed.Collaborates with the Division Chair in communicating course and student needs.Remains familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Faculty Handbook, and Employee Policy Manual; and follows such policies and procedures.Keeps active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects while keeping up to date on current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities and independent research.Strives for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the College.Maintains collegial relationships.Reports to work promptly and punctually.General Responsibilities for All Positions
Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner.Maintains a highly professional attitude and demeanor at all times.Provides responsible, appropriate, and satisfactory leadership on campus and within the College.Communicates positively and professionally in all aspects of the position.Attends staff meetings, College meetings, and professional development activities as required.Becomes thoroughly familiar with all pertinent state and national policies and comply with said policies.Complies with ACCS and College policies, as well as state and federal laws.Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree with major in teaching field OR Master's Degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching field from a regionally accredited institution.Experience integrating or demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the classroom.Effective oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated flexibility in handling diverse course loads.Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the postsecondary level.Experience in writing curriculum for Internet instruction or teaching via the Internet.Must be willing to travel among campus sites for day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, and must provide own mode of transportation.
