HGA is seeking a Document Controls Specialist with a Mechanical/Piping specialty to support operations in Bay Minette, Alabama
. This role is responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, and distributing project documentation—primarily drawings—and supporting all project entities. The position plays a key part in the P&/walkdown process and requires a foundational understanding of P&IDs to ensure documents are reviewed, stored, and transmitted accurately.
- Receive, log, and distribute mechanical and piping drawings to project teams.
- Maintain organized document repositories, ensuring accurate version control and traceability.
- Support P& and walkdown efforts by coordinating documentation and updating drawing records.
- Review drawings and documentation for completeness prior to storage and transmission.
- Assist all project entities—including engineering, construction, and quality—with document requests and retrieval.
- Ensure proper formatting, naming conventions, and document control standards are followed.
- Track document status, outstanding updates, and follow-up actions across project disciplines.
- Prepare and transmit drawing packages to internal stakeholders and external partners as required.
- Provide general document control support and administrative assistance to the project team.
- 3+ years of experience in document control, drafting, or a related role within industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
- Basic understanding of P&IDs, mechanical/piping systems, and industrial documentation workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with minimal guidance.
- Experience using document management systems (DMS) or project controls software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to accuracy and version control.
- Comfortable supporting field activities such as P& and verification tasks.
- Ability to work a 6/10 schedule (six 10-hour days per week) for the duration of the project.
- Experience supporting drawing redlines, revisions, or turnover documentation in an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Plant 3D, or similar tools used for drawing review.
- Understanding of workflow processes, transmittals, and engineering documentation life cycles.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset with a willingness to support multiple disciplines.
