Security Officer

Job Summary

This role follows established procedures and under the supervision of the shift supervisor, provides security for patients, employees, as assigned, and enforces company policies and procedures in a courteous and professional manner.

High School diploma or equivalent.

• 1 year of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Previous experience or current employment as an armed police officer with Louisiana or Federal law enforcement.
• Experience in an enforcement agency (reserve status acceptable) with arrest power and active law enforcement duties.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Completion of Certified Police Officer Standard Training Policy Academy (state, federal, or military).
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification or Military Police equivalent.
• Valid Louisiana driver’s license and clean DMV report.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and firearms training.
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire.
• Employment contingent upon successful completion of the FTO Program within the first 60 days of employment.

• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
• Proficiency with Windows applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
• Considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

• Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations and policies on company property.
• Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
• Investigates accidents and incidents as assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
• Performs safety and security related duties as assigned in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
• Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. The job may involve walking, standing, and occasionally pushing or pulling objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous medications may occur.

The incumbent works within a healthcare setting and may encounter communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
