Job Description

Operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment, processes images, maintains and cleans equipment, and maintains required documentation.

• Prepares patient for exam, relieves anxiety, translates examination into layman’s terms, obtains consent if necessary.
• Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, positions patient for radiographs, arranges immobilization and supportive devices, adjusts equipment, obtains correct exposure, monitors patient condition, reports abnormalities, keys patient history data, operates image transfer, and archives images.
• Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, ensures proper marking of right or left side, logs exams, and completes tracking steps.
• Performs related duties as required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required for positions filled after April 18, 2010.
• Hospital experience, preferred.
• Variable schedule, preferred.
