RN Emergency Department - FlexStaff

The RN Emergency Department position at Northwell Health involves providing comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. • Assess the patient’s physiologic health status.
• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures.
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition.
• Assess level of pain and pain management.
• Communicate and document patient’s physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Assess patient’s psychosocial health status.
• Elicit perception of medical/nursing care and expectations.
• Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure satisfaction.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes.
• Identify actual/potential patient problems and needs for teaching.
• Formulate the plan of care and establish priorities.
• Implement the plan of care and maintain constant vigilance over patient care.
• Administer prescribed treatments and document accurately.
• Collaborate with other care team members in planning and carrying out treatment regimens.
• Participate in patient and family education.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

• Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.

• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• BLS certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
