Your hours of work will be:

41.5 per week on days - 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday – Thursday and 7.30am – 3.30pm on Fridays (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day).
39 per week on nights – 7.45pm – 6am Monday – Thursday (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each night).

You will be expected on occasion to work later in the evening or weekends as business needs require.

Key Objectives

Tiger Trailers are looking for a HGV Trailer Technician to work within our onsite Vehicle Maintenance Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience in Trailer Repairs and Maintenance. Including a strong understanding of electrics and hydraulics.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out safety checks in line with company and legal requirements.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and apply effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and compliance documentation.
  • Work to deadlines to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Support colleagues in the workshop, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Adhere to health & safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Key skills and experience

This role is ideally suited to a hands on, organised, proactive and self-motivated individual. Suitable candidates will have:

  • Qualified HGV Technician / Mechanic (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is advantageous).
  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair & maintenance.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HGV systems, including hydraulics, brakes and suspension is essential.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and able to interpret wiring diagrams.
  • A current HGV Licence (Class 1 or
    2) desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
