Vivant Consultants is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a leading client for an experienced Senior Designer
.
Please note we will ONLY consider candidates from an office furniture dealership background.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, technically strong designer who can lead projects independently from initial programming and space planning through completion
. You’ll work closely with clients, sales teams, architects, A&D firms, consultants, and internal project teams to deliver thoughtful, functional, and innovative design solutions.
- Lead projects from concept and programming through design, documentation, installation, and completion.
- Work directly with clients and sales teams to understand goals, requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Develop creative furniture, space-planning, and interior design solutions.
- Prepare floor plans, furniture plans, architectural drawings, renderings, specifications, presentations, and installation plans.
- Interpret architectural plans and coordinate furniture, architectural, electrical, and interior design requirements.
- Conduct field surveys, measurements, and site assessments.
- Coordinate with architects, A&D firms, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Specify commercial furniture systems, ancillary furniture, finishes, fabrics, and related products.
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Identify challenges, develop solutions, and drive projects forward.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Junior and Intermediate Designers.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in architecture, interior design, or a related field,
or 4–10 years of relevant experience
. - Proven experience independently managing design projects from start to finish.
- Strong commercial furniture and space-planning knowledge;
Herman Miller experience is highly valued
. - Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong client-facing and relationship-building abilities.
- High attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and changing priorities.
- NCIDQ certification is strongly encouraged.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, CET Designer, 20/20 CAP, CAP Designer, Microsoft Office
, and rendering/presentation software.
