Manufacturing Engineer I – At RTX, manufacturing engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. In this role you will support daily manufacturing areas, troubleshoot processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Develop Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, and tool and fixture designs.
- Support daily manufacturing areas with process troubleshooting and incorporate engineering changes into the MDP.
- Disposition non‑conforming material with root‑cause and corrective action analysis.
- Assist in driving continuous improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, and reduce costs using Six Sigma principles and data‑driven decision making.
- Provide real‑time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, in‑house and at the supply base.
- Assist with tool/fixture development to incorporate ergonomics into processes.
- Assist with corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
- Less than two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance.
- Ability to obtain interim Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance prior to start date.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work across disciplines.
- Experience with technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE).
- Experience with automated tooling, machinery, and programming.
- Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail.
