Position OverviewThe Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm systems to ensure customer systems remain safe, reliable, and code compliant. This role is service driven, with a strong focus on diagnosing issues, completing repairs efficiently, and clearly communicating deficiencies and next steps to customers.
This technician will also support inspection activities as needed, assisting the inspection team with testing and ensuring accurate reporting of system conditions in accordance with NFPA 72 and Silco inspection standards.

Position Overview- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems, including panels, initiating devices, notification devices, and system wiring.
- Respond to service calls with urgency and professionalism, identifying the root cause and restoring systems to proper operation.
- Clearly identify, document, and communicate deficiencies found during service or inspections to support timely quoting and repair.
- Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and deficiency documentation accurately in company systems using iPad and SOP-driven workflows.
- Assist inspectors with fire alarm testing and inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and Silco inspection procedures.
- Maintain strong communication with customers on-site by explaining system issues, recommended repairs, and next steps in a clear and professional manner.
- Coordinate as needed with scheduling, supervisors, and deficiency/sales teams to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Support minor upgrades, device replacements, and small system modifications.
- Maintain working knowledge of fire alarm codes, manufacturer requirements, and changing industry standards.
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements at all times.
- Take ownership of performance metrics, including productivity, documentation quality, and responsiveness.
- Responds to service calls quickly and communicates delays proactively.
- Produces clean, accurate, and timely documentation every time.
- Consistently identifies deficiencies that protect the customer and drive follow-up work.
- Represents Silco professionally on every jobsite.
- Works well with inspectors, schedulers, and sales to keep jobs moving.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; fire protection or technical training preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire sprinkler inspection, testing, service, or repair. Ohio Sprinkler Inspection License or NICET II.
- Working knowledge of water-based fire protection systems and applicable NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, 25, and 72 as applicable.
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings, inspection reports, and code requirements.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment related to sprinkler service work.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
