Our client is seeking a highly skilled IBM i Developer & EDI Integration Specialist to support and modernize critical enterprise applications on the IBM i platform. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of legacy IBM i systems and modern digital integrations, ensuring seamless connectivity across supply chain, e-commerce, and logistics platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in RPG, SQL, EDI, APIs, and system administration, contributing to both maintenance and strategic modernization initiatives.

Required Skills
:
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience with IBM i / AS400 systems, focusing on application development and system support
- Proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-Format RPG, SQLRPGLE, CL, and SQL for application development and database modifications
- Extensive experience with EDI technologies, including mapping, translation, partner onboarding, and transaction management, supporting transaction sets like 850, 855, 856, 810, and 852
- Strong expertise in integrating IBM i applications with modern systems using REST APIs, JSON, XML, and web services
- Skilled in FTP/SFTP, AS2 protocols, and third-party EDI tools such as Cleo and Extol
- Solid SQL and relational database development abilities
- Experience supporting critical business functions related to orders, inventory, logistics, shipping, and financial transactions
- Ability to troubleshoot and support IBM i production environments effectively
Nice to Have Skills
:
- Experience integrating with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify
- Familiarity with Fed Ex, UPS, SAP, and 3PL logistics systems
- Knowledge of modern IDEs like VS Code and Code for i
- Exposure to IBM i system administration tasks, including OS upgrades, PTF management, security, and hardware migrations
- Background in retail, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, or supply chain industries
- Understanding of Dev Ops practices or cloud integration
Preferred Education and Experience
:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Senior/Principal-level IBM i professional with 25+ years of experience is highly preferred
Other Requirements:
- This role requires onsite presence at the designated location in Bayonne, NJ.
- Candidates should be prepared to collaborate closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
