Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a fast-moving team in Baytown, Texas on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position focuses on maintaining accurate payment records, supporting vendor transactions, and keeping financial documentation organized and up to date. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with detailed data, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to daily accounting operations with accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities:

- Enter invoice, ticket, and payment details into Excel with a high level of accuracy and ensure records are kept current.

- Process payments to haul vendors for deliveries, construction activity, and inbound materials based on approved rate information.

- Review completed transactions, compare supporting reports, and resolve discrepancies to maintain balanced records.

- Organize, archive, and index haul tickets and related paperwork in OnBase for reliable digital recordkeeping.

- Assist with incoming material payable processing to support prompt and accurate vendor payments.

- Respond to questions from vendors and internal department leaders by researching account details and payment activity.

- Maintain current records for haul vendor agreements and insurance documentation.

- Contribute effectively in a high-volume environment by managing daily priorities independently while supporting team objectives.

- Adjust to evolving workflows and take on additional accounting or administrative tasks as assigned by leadership. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar accounting support role.

- Strong data entry skills with the ability to work accurately in Excel and other business systems.

- Experience processing invoices and maintaining organized financial documentation.

- Ability to reconcile transactions, review reports, and identify inconsistencies in payment records.

- Comfortable communicating with vendors and internal teams to address questions and resolve issues.

- Experience with electronic filing or document management systems such as OnBase is preferred.

- Ability to stay organized and productive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
