Role Description This full-time Tire Technician role is an on-site position located at Carr's Tire & Automotive in Baytown, TX. The Tire Technician is responsible for mounting, balancing, rotating, and repairing tires on a variety of vehicles, following safety procedures and manufacturer specifications. Daily tasks include inspecting tires and wheels for wear or damage, performing flat repairs, checking tire pressure, and assisting with wheel alignment preparation.
The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, properly using shop equipment and tools, and communicating clearly with service advisors and other team members about vehicle status. The Tire Technician supports overall shop operations by helping with vehicle intake, basic maintenance tasks when needed, and delivering courteous, professional service to every customer.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with tire mounting, balancing, rotation, and flat repair, with strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to inspect tires, wheels, and related components to identify wear patterns, damage, and appropriate service needs.
- Proficiency in using tire machines, balancers, air tools, and hand tools, and willingness to follow equipment guidelines.
- Basic automotive service knowledge (e.g., oil changes, brake checks) is helpful and a willingness to learn additional shop tasks.
- Strong physical stamina to lift and move tires and wheels, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Effective communication skills and a customer-focused attitude, with the ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic; prior experience in a tire or automotive shop is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
