Construction Manager/ Foreman, Heavy Equipment Operator
Rodbuster Foreman – Baytown, TX
Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is hiring a Rodbuster Foreman to lead projects at the Baytown, TX job site. OPD is a leading engineering and construction company serving the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries.
Responsibilities- Strong knowledge of carpentry, tools, procedures, and best practices
- Ability to lead crews
- Conduct morning production meetings with crews to discuss daily plans and concerns
- Assign job tasks to each crew member and ensure proper training
- Coordinate work according to priorities and plans
- Serve as a safety role model for the team
- Enforce OPD and client‑specific safety policies and procedures on the job site
- Anticipate and recognize potential safety and environmental concerns and report them to the OPD Superintendent
- Communicate and coordinate with the OPD Superintendent, Logistics Manager, and Construction Manager for material requirements, schedule concrete pours, and order rebar deliveries
- Verify that concrete and forms meet client specifications
- Be competent with excavations, trenching, and soil work, and plan equipment, soil treatment, and safety considerations for all planned civil work
- Lead by example and with respect
- Maintain a clean job site
- Use a computer to write daily reports, employee discipline logs, JSAs, and e‑mail communications
- Actively participate in a strong safety culture
- Recognize safety hazards and risks
- Participate in onsite safety meetings
- Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures
- Be aware of changing conditions on an active job site
- Be on time to the job site each day, ready for work
- Display a positive attitude and work well in a team environment
- Work in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations
- Lift and carry awkward objects up to 60 lbs
- Stand for extended periods of time (up to 11 hours per day) with breaks given in 2.5‑hour intervals
- Use arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis; use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools
- At least 2 years of experience as a civil foreman
- Ability to read and understand civil, structural, and pipe drawings
- Ability to use a sight level and transit to determine coordinates and elevations
- Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
- Previous experience leading teams of 10–30 people
- Willingness to advance a safety culture
- Experience communicating effectively across crafts: civil, pipe, and structural
- Three or more years of experience as a foreman
- Fully competent with excavation, trenching, soil jobs, and safety considerations
- Consistent progression into field leadership
- Past experience working in multiple crafts: pipe, civil, structural
