These positions are filled prior to or during the start of each semester and are contingent upon the needs of the College.
* Collaborate with colleagues to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student success and retention.
* Plan and provide learning experiences for students based on program objectives/outcomes.
* Create and implement clinical and laboratory activities which provide meaningful learning experiences.
* Provide students with direction for utilizing all available educational resources (e.g., library, computer/skills lab, personnel, clinical, etc.).
* Attend and participate in course team meetings.
* Provide direct supervision of students practicing in a clinical area, including patient selection, observation of students in the delivery of patient care, evaluating the performance of students, and conducting/scheduling post-conferences.
* Ensure students are competent in nursing skills and procedures before implementing them in hands-on patient care.
* Grade written work required of students and enter grades in Blackboard in a timely manner.
* Keep an accurate record of students' attendance, progress, and performance.
* Begin clinical and labs on time and promptly notify the appropriate instructional administrator in the event of an unscheduled absence.
* Report student problems to the Director of Nursing as deemed necessary.
* Faculty schedules vary by semester. Clinical schedules are dependent upon clinical agency availability and may include evenings or weekends.
* Maintain professional competence and participate in professional development activities.
* Maintain a professional working relationship with students, fellow faculty members, administration, staff, and clinical personnel.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Nursing
* Must hold a current license or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
* Two (2) years of clinical experience as a licensed nurse
* Must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Must be computer proficient
* Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required
Preferred:
* Experience teaching nursing at the postsecondary level
