The instructor will provide both classroom and hands-on instruction to students preparing for careers as forklift technicians. This role also supports program development, instruction, assessment.
* This role is subject to a 12-hour week of instruction and training, over a 16-week semester, with this pattern continuing in subsequent semesters.
* Collaborate with Cross Credit Industrial leadership and site partners to develop, and refine the Forklift Technician curriculum in alignment with NCCER, OSHA, and forklift technician industry standards.
* Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on training related to forklift maintenance, service, and repair.
* Prepare students for evaluations and assessments.
* Assist with the setup and maintenance of training equipment and materials.
* Stay current with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in forklift technology and technician training.
* Frequent interaction with staff, students, industry partners, and the public.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Experience that satisfies one of the following three options:
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Forklift Technician; or
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Lead or Supervisory Technician; or
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Technical Trainer or Instructor.
* Strong knowledge of forklift systems, hydraulics, brake systems, electrical systems, batteries, masts, attachments, and safety procedures.
* Ability to deliver effective classroom and hands-on instruction.
* Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong conflict resolution, communication, and relationship management skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
* Ability to travel.
* Must possess of a valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred:
* Certifications to teach OSHA 10, NCCER Core Safety, and Forklift Operator training programs.
* Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials preferred.
* Experience working with industry companies, community colleges, and workforce development programs.
