The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for a Project Manager in the Engineering Department
. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, designing, and coordinating activities of engineering related to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), project management of design and construction projects, and plan review of commercial and residential developments. This position is also responsible for providing QA/QC inspection services for the City’s capital projects. Work is performed under the direction of the CIP Projects Manager and Engineering Director.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs project manager duties for projects.
  • Prepares plans, cost estimates, and specifications for CIP projects and other City small projects. Assist in the solicitation of bids for projects as assigned, compile information for contract documents and specifications for capital improvement projects.
  • Assist in plan review and quality control for projects.
  • Attends and participates in conferences and meetings.
  • Consults with contractors, engineers, manufacturing representatives and others in carrying out various objectives and programs.
  • Prepares engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Checks construction plans for site development, buildings and subdivisions to ensure the design meets all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate projects with and provide information to contractors, consultants, developers, citizens and city staff.
  • Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information and resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist in plan review and prepare estimates of material and labor costs for future capital improvement and community development projects.
  • Enter inspection details and related information onto computer system; update and retrieve information as required; prepare various reports, notices, memos and letters as required.
  • Attend meetings, seminars and training courses as required.
  • Meet and coordinate construction activities with other local municipalities and jurisdictions.
  • Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.
  • During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.

Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar field of study from an accredited college or university with a minimum (3) years of experience in Civil/Municipal Engineering to include construction management and inspection.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or recently acquired Professional License preferred, but not required.
