Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and coordination of the City’s annual budget and long‑range forecast.
- Maintain the City’s general ledger, record revenues and expenses accurately, and analyze financial transactions for quarterly and annual reports.
- Reconcile various accounts and support the audit process.
- Participate in core functions such as annual budget, year‑end audit, CAFR preparation, and review/update financial procedures.
- Assist in special projects as assigned.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating, capital, and component unit budgets, and quarterly budget amendments.
- Serve as liaison between departments and management to formulate and implement budget objectives.
- Provide departmental training during the budget cycle and monitor budget compliance.
- Submit the City’s adopted budget to GFOA for review and apply for the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
- Prepare reports, maintain transaction records, review accounts, and recommend solutions to finance related problems.
- Communicate with all departments regarding financial activities, budget transfers, and journal entries for reclassification.
- Support special audits and provide schedules and reports.
- Create complex statistical forecasting models, trend analysis, and financial projections for internal and external presentations.
- Maintain and coordinate position control information between departments, Payroll, and Human Resources.
- Assist in City audits by preparing PBC schedules, financial statements, and responding to auditor inquiries, and determine necessary adjustments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to perform the essential functions.
- Experience in budget, managerial analysis, accounting, finance or a related field.
- Prior municipal experience.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with employees, department directors, city management, and elected officials. Must be detail oriented and able to accomplish duties in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. Must have a positive attitude, learn new tasks quickly, work independently without constant supervision, multi‑task, troubleshoot, and problem‑solve. Strong knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing systems is essential.
General knowledge of accounting and financial reporting is expected.

Additional InformationAttendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work more than 40 hours a week. The position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations, and may require the incumbent to remain in service during an evacuation.
Overall Position Strength Demands:
