Role

The Mortgage Operations Specialist is responsible for all mortgage operations including quality, compliance, post-closing, servicing, shipping and reporting. Works with other mortgage staff and Vendors to support the goals and objectives of the Mortgage Department. Position must be eligible and obtain an NMLS#. The Mortgage Operations Specialist shall demonstrate an understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for all lending operations and shall be required to update that knowledge as necessary.

Essential

Functions & Responsibilities
  • 65% – Closes, funds, scans/ships/electronic files Portfolio loans in a timely fashion.
  • 10% – Assists with completing the HMDA report correctly and timely at CRCU required intervals.
  • 10% – Interacts and solves member questions and requests with Mortgage Sub-Servicer and with posting errors in relation to mortgage payments.
  • 5% – Assists with preparing Mortgage month-end, quarter-end and annual reports.
  • 5% – Provides administrative support to the mortgage operations team.
  • 5% – Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performance Measurements
  • Produces high quality loans at maximum volume allowed by the market.
  • Cross trains with other roles within the Mortgage Department as needed.
  • Maintains a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and team members.
  • Utilizes expertise to maximize employee productivity through efficient processes.
  • Meets with members to assist with their mortgage and financial needs.
  • Maintains a professional work environment and professional appearance.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of, and follows the requirements of all regulatory compliance, including but not limited to those of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Member Due Diligence (MDD) as it specifically relates to their job functions. Employee shall be trained annually in BSA/AML compliance.
  • Knowledge and Skills Experience

    Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

    Education

    Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.

    Interpersonal Skills

    A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

    Other Skills

    Extensive knowledge of consumer and real estate lending practices and procedures. Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. May require periodic travel. There is exposure to potential hazardous conditions such as robbery. Employees are to receive detailed instructions and procedures to follow in order to minimize risk.
